As an addendum to my last comment, the radar could also be convex or somewhat bulb-shaped like Doppler weather radars. I suppose it does not necessarily need to be shaped like an antenna.

Perhaps it could be a module such as the guns and boosters. A wide concave shape with a rod protruding from the center should suffice. When you do not have it equipped, you cannot view the radar. When you do have it equipped, you can view the radar.

pernament space stations sound cool, will give the locations in the game a sense of space and player could actually explore space and come back to areas they recognise!

and other ideas? please say it will be planets, stars and other intresting stella objects :D
