More exciting than it looks | Farbs.org

See that little yellow girder piece? It’s exciting. It doesn’t seem exciting, but believe me it is. Unlike anything else in the Captain Forever games so far I can fly far, far away from it, then come back and find it still sitting there. What’s even cooler is that it isn’t even really there when I get far away, so it doesn’t need to be considered for gameplay or physics updates. I could fill a whole universe with these… or perhaps something else. Perhaps I could fill it with space stations.

Things that stay there even after moving away?

Oooh, imagine the possibilities. Junkyards, Space stations, Command centers..

    More things to destroy. Mmm.

  2. nckomodo says:

    that is indeed exciting

you could probably go a step further and pick a random ship/station/universe sector and simulate it for a couple seconds, and do it one at a time.
would certainly add some life to the universe.

Space stations.. ..and then have them pop out cargo pods?

  5. ryan says:

space stations for docking and repairing your entire ship?

  6. Adam says:

It would be awesome to build your own spacestation xD

Dunno how it would work though…

That is very exciting, will be useful that if you have to escape from a ship you can then circle round and find the debrie from the earlier battle still there, after you have lost that other ship!

pernament space stations sound cool, will give the locations in the game a sense of space and player could actually explore space and come back to areas they recognise!

and other ideas? please say it will be planets, stars and other intresting stella objects :D

I suggest a radar if that is a possibility. Perhaps it could be a module such as the guns and boosters. A wide concave shape with a rod protruding from the center should suffice. When you do not have it equipped, you cannot view the radar. When you do have it equipped, you can view the radar.

Also, I’d like to suggest that your ship has a certain energy level, which can be refilled by collecting fuel canisters dropped by destroyed enemy ships, or by equipping solar panel modules.

As an addendum to my last comment, the radar could also be convex or somewhat bulb-shaped like Doppler weather radars. I suppose it does not necessarily need to be shaped like an antenna.

    Hey Brian,

I’m starting to think that some sort of map would be a good idea, but my idea for this is a little different. Hopefully I’ll get to try it out in some rough form next week.

Brain, I also thought about a radar module, the other ships do already emitt radio emissions to show you where they are. But if we had a few stealthy ships that were silent on the radio, radar would become pretty cool :D
