I like the name, it’s short and memorable.

So now I’m curious, is this game going to see a sort of tonal shift as it gets further along? What sort of direction are you thinking of taking it in from a gameplay perspective, and how does it differ from Captain Jameson as it was originally conceived?

Cheers! I liked the name too :| Now to think of another one…

There will definitely be more of a tonal shift as development continues, but I think it’s shifting more toward how the game actually plays than the original aesthetic.

From a gameplay perspective I don’t think it’ll actually change very much. The one big thing that could affect gameplay is the new user experience though – I need to make the game more accessible, and that may require some design changes. We’ll see I guess. The only way to figure this stuff out is to test it on real live humans, so I’m really not sure where it’s going to go.

I think this will become a good story that fits nicely within the confines of the original Jameson concept (Elite-like gameplay in a Captain Forevery world) without adhering to the original Jameson setting (bringing civilization back to life through commerce).

The Dawn Star not gonna cut it? Oh well, so long as the game is fun I’m happy with whatever. I do hope whatever you settle on is something that will grab people’s attention… Though I suppose people coming into this fresh would be inclined to think that your game is yet another Minecraft-in-space game, which would be a shame considering Captain Forever happened first… ramble

Is VMEDS going away then? I love VMEDS’ style on the whole, and I find it mostly a lot of fun to use ( in fact, I’d love to see it expanded upon ) but I do admit it is very clunky whenever navigating two-dimensional menus is involved.

I guess a mouse driven interface would make some sense, since the mouse is already used for the game itself, but I can’t help but feel the game would lose some of it’s charm without VMEDS… Still, I suppose it’s really not a big deal on the whole, and if removing or modifying it makes the game easier for new players to get into then I can’t really say it shouldn’t be done

Also, I love the new background, and I can’t wait to see what else you do to add to the atmosphere of the game.

Hoorah, just realised you were posting again at farbs.org. Excited to play the new build =D

VMEDs, while charming is clunky, and thus should change for the teaming masses and betterment of the game.

The background , at least to me, looks cooler as the triangles before painted in, but thats probably just my old love of the captain forever art style.

I dont like how the image feels like its stationary, I feel like it should scroll every so slightly in the far off distance so it feels more like your moving and not that there is just a picture painted in the background.
